Looking for Australian Actuaries

Jason has arrived in Sydney to join Tony at GAAPS PTY Australia.

So far he has looked for actuaries on Bondi Beach,

on Sydney Bridge,

and on a cruise.

So, if you are an actuary looking for a job in Australia, check out the GAAPS website for the latest vacancies.

(And if you are an employer, please be aware that we have a comprehensive database, we don’t limit ourselves to the actuaries that we find at popular tourist attractions.)

Company Visits and Actuary Jobs in Singapore

Jason has stopped over in Singapore on his way to join Tony at GAAPS PTY Australia.

He’s taking advantage of the stopover for a number of company visits so let us know if you are looking for an actuary job in Singapore or an actuary job in Asia.

Train Stations and Actuarial Jobs

Travelling to meetings closer to home, Yaxue and Collette went to visit a client in Kingswood, Surrey and took these photos of the quaint railway station on the Southern line and the inside of the Station House.

Our Final Day in South Africa

We started the day with a breakfast meeting with a client, and then met with a candidate in the afternoon.

Checked out at 4pm and journeyed back to UK.

All in all it was a very successful visit and I am already looking forward to next years careers fair.

Actuaries, or Calvin Klein Models?

Geraldine relaxed in the hotel resting in the sunshine by pool.  The temperature was 27/28 degrees at the weekend, an improvement on when we first arrived.

The finals for the Calvin Klein underwear model competition were being held at the department store next to the hotel.  Wanda just happened to be passing by when the 10 finalists were in the window posing in their underwear so had to take a photo….

Wanda went to a game reserve about an hours drive away from hotel.  Saw a variety of wild life: White lions, Cheetahs, Wild dogs, wildebeasts, wart hogs, water buffalo, zebra, hippos, Ostrich, springbok etc. They also had an area with baby animals and there was an opportunity to cuddle the lion cubs.

The Big Day

The careers fair was very successful, with the biggest turn out ever for students and companies. Read more about the careers fair at the GAAPS Blog.

After careers fair we went to Melrose Arch to stay at the Protea Fire and Ice hotel. Melrose Arch is a vibrant area of bars, piazzas, shopping and hotels.  The hotel was built especially for the world cup visitors and is a boutique style, 5 star hotel.  We much preferred the area and hotel and the food was excellent.

South Africa Trip

GAAPS Not Grounded

Sophie had been visiting us at GAAPS HQ in London when the volcanic travel ban struck and she was unable to fly home to France as planned.

At 11pm on Thursday night Sima managed to book her a Eurostar ticket for Saturday morning, tickets for the next leg of the journey back to Marseilles were further complicated by a train strike in France!

Sophie eventually arrived home at midnight after a long and stressful journey and she is now pleased to be able to get stuck back into filling vacancies.

Jane Weiss is still trapped in South Africa and we eagerly await her return.
